Brighton Hipstapak introduced with Sussex Film and Doris Lens

The Hipstamatic vintage iPhone camera app has undergone several updates recently. I’ll cover lens/film sharing and working with Oggl in another post. For this Hipstapak mention, I thought I would go in a slightly different direction. Normally, I will let you know that I found a new pak available of interest for folks that like to play with lens and film combos. Then, what the folks at Hipstamatic has to say about the pak’s shooting results.

Going forward, I’ll let you know when a camera app has introduced new add-ins, as well a few shots I have done using the update in real life. I hope this helps you make a decision if the feature will enhance your photography outside of the parameters that the app provider shows.

So, like the title says, Hipstamatic now has a Brighton Pak available through the app on the iPhone. Included in this Brighton Pak is the Sussex Film and Doris Lens.

Below are a few shots using the Brighton combination. Since taking these photos, I’m finding the Doris lens getting used a lot with other films on the iPhone Hipstamatic app. Your preference and milage may vary.

Hipstamatic camera for the iPhone, on sale for Holiday weekend 50% off

Fence sitters for the retro camera Hipstamatic app, it’s a pretty good time to jump in. Regular readers know I have covered the app through all of it’s updates and many of it’s film / lens pack additions. Today, the developers announced that they are offering the app for 50% off now through the holiday weekend. All of the basic included lens and films are included, ready for some fun photo shooting while your out and about.

Also, for the holiday weekend is the return of all of the previous packs that have come and gone. Many of the holiday packs appear for a few months then go away. If you didn’t grab the effects, it was no longer possible to buy them. Non of the packs seems to be discounted like the actual Hipstamatic app is this weekend, but it’s nice to have back a few that I had been slow to grab and didn’t in-app purchase. Now, off to mix and match while doing the faire this weekend.

Free Hipstamatic Americana Lens and Case for Fashion Week

Now, through the 16th of February, in honor of Fashion Week, Hipstamatic is offering a free pack of the Americana Lens and Case. After the 16th, the pack will be an extra charge through in-app purchase.

For Hipstamatic fans… which I wasn’t till I started playing with lens/film combos and found a few set ups just great for my everyday shooting… the Americana case will be a nice change from the old camera look to a more retro camera.

The Americana lens offers a bit of a softening effect. I found it brings out the brown coloring a bit more than other lens options I have in my iPhone’s Hipstamatic film/lens options.

To grab your copy, just launch Hipstamatic on your iPhone, go to the cart area (via the little shopping cart icon) and you should see the Americana FreePak to click and download. Watch that area after February 16th for two new films to be introduced.
